Horses Help 16th Annual Golf Tournament Recap
Orange Tree Golf Resort Phoenix Arizona

Horses Help 18th Annual Golf Tournament
Wrap-up
If Horses Help had tried to order the perfect weather for our golf tournament, we could not have done any better. It was a magnificent day at Orange Tree Golf Resort which was overtaken by a host of 80 golfers with not the slightest intent on setting a course record. In fact, the course record would remain for another day. These participants enjoyed the day to help raise money for our programs at Horses Help.
Prior to the start of the main event, one of the highlights of the day was the "Cowpolk extreme putting."If putting through a tack laden obstacle course sounds tricky, it really was! It created some laughter and frustration enough to sink your spurs in. The Cowboy putting course met the national game of Canada (hockey) for an interesting second round. This was the brainchild of Bob Nathan who was heard to say, "Just cowboy up ehhh." Well, this picture is worth a thousand words.

Some golfers actually putted better with the hockey sticks, and tried to buy them from Bob.

As always, our beautiful check in volunteers did a wonderful job of selling mulligan's with those impressive smiles!

OK, back to the action. As I said, 80 golfers from around the valley participated. There was a large contingent of players from Anthem who were returning for top prizes largely because they were so successful last year. Kristy Tucker, spokeswoman for the Anthem Ladies contingent mentioned that other valley ladies teams were a little frightened of their dazzeling golf skills and must have wanted to just sit this one out.
One of the Anthem men's teams took home the gold as well and had to leave a bit early to get their ringers back on the plane to catch up with the PGA tour. These guys were good.
All in all, everyone had a great time, indulged in some great food and received some great prizes. I want to send a shout out to my team mates Jim and Dick who carried me most of the way and made me feel especially warm when they expressed that it was nice to meet someone from Ole Miss who they liked. (Dick went to Mississippi State).
I also want to thank Tim Pfeiffer. I asked Tim to have someone in his group hit the exploding golf ball and send me the results. I think Tim was intrigued enough because he actually hit it himself. Smokin!

We wish to thank our sponsors and friends who made this event a huge success.
