Equine Facilitated Learning

Horses Help now offers “Half Halt”, an Equine Facilitated Learning Program.

We offer Equine Facilitated Learning (EFL) along with our regular therapeutic riding program. EFL is a way of using the natural interactions with the horse to teach boundaries, trust, self awareness, leadership and teamwork. Each lesson is tailored to the individual student's needs. The child will be assigned their horse for the duration of the program. They will learn basic horse care and horsemanship skills, while gaining insights on communication and teamwork. Each student will be required to assist in barn chores. Students are asked to wear sneakers or boots that can get dirty, and appropriate outdoor attire.

Our EFL staff includes three Certified Professional Association of Therapeutic Horsemanship Instructors, a mental health professional and volunteer staff from the local community. All fully trained in therapeutic riding and horse handling.
