Therapeutic Riding/Driving
Therapeutic riding/driving instructors design and implement individualized programs which are determined by each rider's need. All instructors are specially trained and certified through North American Riding for the Handicapped, Assoc. (NARHA). NARHA is a nationally known organization which promotes safe, professional, ethical and therapeutic equine activities through education, communication, standards & research for people with and without disabilities.
Riding/driving skills are taught so riders/drivers may enjoy horsebackriding/driving as a recreation. Through carefully prepared activities, riders/drivers learn to stop and start, turn or walk over obstacles. They also move through various changes of speed when appropriate. Some riders/drivers participate in grooming an tacking their own horse. Activities unclude games that assist in balance, motor planning, spatial awareness and sensory integration.

Military Equine Riding for Health

We are committed to serving our special needs communities- children, adults, seniors. and our military veterans. As riders with special needs, they all benefit from Horses Helps trained staff, horses and special facilities. We adapt each program to the goals and motivations, learning styles and life experiences of the client groups and unique individuals we serve. A combat veteran brings to his or her riding a different view piont and skill set than a youngster discovering life's possibilities.
Any veteren wishing to participate in this program, simply fill out the rider file below.
