This summer, we borrowed from the Oregon Trail game concept and brought to life the hardships and adventures of pioneer life in the American West. Our adventurers were immersed in tremendous life lessons like caring for their mode of transportation - their horses! They worked together on a mapping project so they understood what it would take for a successful journey. Then, together, they resourced their adventure (and the fun!) by mining for gold, buying supplies at the supply store, learning how to track animals for food, fly fish, build a shelter for the trip. These activities were generously supported with donations from Cabelas! Every kid had a chance to hone their horsemanship and riding skills so that they could safely make the trek.
Thank you to the families that attended our Pioneer Days events. We enjoyed our time with you at the barn, and look forward to seeing you next summer!
