What is Level 2 Training?
The Level 2 training is a 2-hour course that will cover Horses Help methodology in the following areas: haltering, tying, grooming, leading, and tacking. To attain Level 2, Horses Help asks that you attend at least one of the Level 2 Training's, and then schedule a brief assessment with Kerri to determine your comfort level with the skill set. You are welcome to attend as many Level 2 training's as you wish before your Horse Handler skills check off to gain experience and familiarize yourself with different members of the herd.

Frequently Asked Questions:
If I have a lot of horse experience, do I still need to go through the Level 2 Training?Yes, all volunteers wishing to be signed off as a Horse Handler volunteer and/or wish to seek higher levels must attend a minimum of one Level 2 training. This training will emphasize the Horses Help methodology when handling the horses so that a consistent and safe environment can be maintained for the horses, volunteers and riders. Can I attend this training if I do not have any horse experience?Yes! This training is built for volunteers with various levels of equine experience. If you have limited horse experience, you may need to attend a Level 2 Training more than once and schedule mentor sessions so you can practice your skills before you go through a Horse Handler skills sign-off.What if I do not pass the Level 2 skills sign-off?In order to be signed off as a Level 2 volunteer, you must receive a 'passing' score on all components. If you receive a non-passing score on one or more components you may need to attend another Level 2 Training and/or schedule more mentor sessions. The Equine Director will guide you through this process.
