Becoming an Instructor

In order to become a PATH Intl. Certified Instructor, you must successfully complete the two Phases of the certification process. For additional information on this process, please refer to the PATH Intl. website or Click Here for the Registered Instructor Booklet. Any questions that you have regarding Phase One should be directed to the PATH Intl. office, and questions regarding Phase Two should be directed to PATH Intl. or Horses Help.

Phase One (PATH Intl.)

To officially begin Phase One submit the following items to PATH Intl.:

  • PATH Intl. Membership Number or become a Member ($60)
  • Copies of current CPR and First Aid Training
  • Registered Instructor Certification Application ($75)

Upon receipt of the above listed items PATH Intl. will e-mail you a Phase One Packet.

Phase 1 Packet includes access to the following on-line components :

  • Center Accreditation Training Course (CAT) & Exam
  • Horsemanship Skills Checklist
  • Instructor Self -study Course
  • Registered Instructor Open Book Exam

NOTE: Please refference the PATH Intl. Registered Instructor Certification Booklet for time frames that apply to Phase One.

Upon successful completion of Phase One you will receive a confirmation of Instructor-In Training status letter (IT letter) from the PATH Intl. office.  At this point, you are considered a PATH Intl. Instructor-In-Training.  You may retain this designation for one year from the date of your Confirmation Letter.

Phase Two

Within the twelve month Instructor in Training timeframe, you must complete all the components of Phase Two.  These components are:

  • 25 Supervised Teaching Hours (Must be under current PATH Intl. Certified Instructor). Hours are valid for 2 years
    • These hours may be started before you recieve your IT Letter for completing Phase One
  • Attend a Registered Instructor Workshop
    • Can be attended before Instructor Application is submitted. Workshop is good for 2 years
  • Attend a Registered Instructor Certification
    • Mounted Riding Exam
    • Teaching Exam
